Superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance (especially in chlorides / marine environments), compared to 302.
Slightly lower tensile strength. Suited for aggressive, corrosive conditions. Recommended max operating temperature: 280⁰C (550⁰F).

Grade 17/7 PH (BS2056 17/7PH / AISI 631 / EN 1.4568
Semi-austenitic precipitation-hardening alloy.
Combines 302 level corrosion resistance with very high strength / hardness (comparable to carbon steel) in addition to excellent fatigue resistance after cold work and age hardening (CH900). Perfect for high stress application where corrosion is a concern. Recommended max operating temperature: 343⁰C

Grade 17/4 PH (AISI 630 / UNS S14700)
Martensitic precipitation-hardening alloy.
Provides high strength, good corrosion resistance (similar to 302) and toughness with low distortion after heat treatment. Can be age hardened to various conditions: (H900 / H925 / H1150 / H1150 + 1150). Used in select retaining and medium / high load applications. Recommended max operating temperature: 343⁰C).
